Maths, statistics and academic writing have been rebuilt

We've rolled out a major content update to the Learning Lab, focused on clarity, accessibility and support across mathematics, statistics and academic writing.

General content updates

• A new Copyright page to help you understand your responsibilities around attribution and content use.
• A redesigned Literature reviews section for anyone new to this assignment type. It explains what a literature review is, what is expected, and offers tips on language and organisation.
• A new Revising, organising and accessibility section, covering:
  • Accessibility in assessment — why accessibility matters, and practical tips for improving it.
  • Tables and figures — presenting data and visuals clearly.
  • Appendices — when and how to use them effectively.

Maths and statistics

The maths and statistics section has been significantly updated, with major content improvements across:

• Algebra
• Arithmetic
• Complex numbers
• Differential equations
• Differentiation
• Equation solving
• Functions and graphs
• Indices, surds and logarithms
• Integration
• Matrices
• Measurement
• Statistics and probability, with clearer explanations and examples
• Trigonometry
• Vectors

The layout has also been restructured for easier navigation, and content is now separated into "Getting started", "Next steps" and "Dive deeper" levels so you can work at the depth that suits you.

Website features

• A new Subject support page, making it easier to find the topics relevant to your discipline.
• Print-friendly styles, so you can print or save a page and use it offline.
