Making maths matter

We've added a new feature to the Learning Lab's maths section that connects foundational maths concepts to how they're used in real jobs and everyday situations.

What's new

"Maths in context" boxes now appear on most maths pages. Each one is a short example showing how the maths you're learning is applied in fields like construction, data science, architecture and finance.

The maths section has always been a solid place to upskill or refresh your knowledge, but it never showed you where any of it actually gets used. The context boxes close that gap. When you can see where a concept gets used, it sticks better.

Each example is deliberately short, so you get the relevance without the detour.

What's next

We'll keep an eye on how the context boxes are used and look at extending them into other sections.

We'd love your feedback through the form on this site — we hope this helps maths feel less like formulas and more like a toolkit you'll actually use.
